OKINAWA ARTIST VILLAGE is a masterplan proposal for a site in Okinawa, conceived as a place where talented young artists from around the world could stay for a certain period of time, supported in both their creative work and everyday life.
As master architect, JUN’ICHI ITO Architect & Associates developed a proposal that reads the sloping terrain and views toward the sea, integrating the overall masterplan with design concepts for individual facilities, including studios, residences, galleries, and spaces for exchange. By distributing small buildings along the contours of the land, the proposal aims to create a village-like environment where making, living, solitude, exchange, terrain, and landscape overlap.
